Stupid Small Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Stupid Small ("the app", "we", "our") handles your information. We built this app to help you beat procrastination, not to harvest your data. Here's exactly what happens with your information.

What we store on your device

All your tasks, subtasks, completion history, focus timer durations, streak data, and app preferences are stored locally on your device in a private database. This data never leaves your phone unless you explicitly use a feature that sends it elsewhere (see below).

What we send to our AI service

When you use AI-powered features (suggesting subtasks, voice input parsing, AI Coach, weekly insights, daily nudges, or task replacement), the relevant text is sent to our backend proxy, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider for processing.

• The AI service receives only the text you explicitly trigger (a task title, your spoken input, your coach reply, etc.)
• We do not attach your name, email, device ID, location, or any other identifying information to AI requests
• We do not store AI conversations on our servers — requests are forwarded and the response is returned to your device
• AI requests are subject to a monthly quota to prevent abuse

The AI provider (currently OpenRouter, which routes to models from companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google) may log requests according to their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing OpenRouter's privacy policy at openrouter.ai/privacy.

What we don't collect

• No analytics. We don't use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or any other tracking SDK.
• No advertising. No ads, no ad SDKs, no tracking pixels.
• No personal information. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or any account credentials.
• No location data. The app does not request or use your location.
• No contacts. The app does not access your contacts.
• No device fingerprinting. We don't collect IMEI, advertising ID, or hardware fingerprints.

Permissions we request

• Internet — to send AI requests through our proxy
• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — only when you tap the microphone button to dictate a task. Audio is processed by Android's built-in speech recognizer and the recognized text is sent to our AI proxy. Audio recordings themselves are never sent or stored.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — only if you enable reminders. We send notifications for daily reminders, idle nudges, and morning prompts. All notifications are generated locally on your device.
• Notification policy access (ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY) — only if you enable Focus Mode. Used to put your phone in Do Not Disturb while the focus timer is running.

Premium subscriptions

If you subscribe to Stupid Small Premium, the subscription is processed by Google Play Billing. We do not see or store your payment information — all payment data is handled by Google. We only receive a subscription status flag from Google Play to determine whether to unlock premium features.

Children's privacy

Stupid Small is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

Data deletion

To delete all your data, simply uninstall the app. All locally stored task data is removed when you uninstall. We have no server-side database holding your tasks.

Security

The connection between the app and our AI proxy is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. The AI provider's API key is stored only on our backend proxy server, never in the app itself. We use a shared secret to authenticate requests from the app to our proxy.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated via the app store listing or an in-app notice.
